In Monaco, there’s no shortage of beautiful addresses, and you already know that! But the ones that truly deliver on their promises – on the produce, the technique and the experience – are rarer. 99 Sushi Bar Monaco, set in Mareterra, clearly belongs in that league: the tables where you savour every bite with an almost critical eye, attentive to the smallest detail.

From the moment you arrive, the decor impresses with its refinement. Mirrors, noble materials, a hushed atmosphere with wine-coloured velvet seating: here, nothing is left to chance. The glass flooring over concrete and the greenery on the walls are almost hypnotic. The setting evokes a contemporary Japan, chic without being showy, perfectly in tune with the exclusive spirit of Mareterra. A luxury staging that leaves room for what matters most: the plate.

And what a plate it is. The Japanese cuisine at 99 Sushi Bar Monaco is remarkably precise. The fish is remarkably fresh, the cuts are clean, controlled, almost surgical. The balance is spot on, never showy, always elegant. You can feel a genuine demand for excellence in every detail.

I tried their lunch formula (40 euros, including a glass of wine), and it’s probably one of the most interesting in the area! It lets you discover the house’s world at a moderate price, without sacrificing quality. An ideal formula for a refined, efficient, yet resolutely gastronomic lunch. The OMAKASE lunch menu is a cascade of flavours: Hosomaki, Kobe Edamame, Tiger Prawn Tempura, Salmon Nigiri, Flambeed Sea Bass Nigiri, 99 Galanga Skirt Steak served with Yakimeshi rice or 99 Black Cod served with seasoned Onigiri rice, finishing with the 99 Yuzu Cheesecake and rose ice cream. Yes, all of that, with impeccable service. An absolute treat!

I nearly forgot to mention their signature dishes, the Matsuri Roll and the Dragonfly Maki, a real demonstration of skill. Intensity of flavours, precision of textures, elegance of presentation: everything is perfectly calibrated. Dishes that confirm the address’s high-end positioning and clearly leave a lasting impression.

99 Sushi Bar Monaco has established itself as a benchmark for Japanese gastronomy in Monaco. A serious, demanding table that will appeal to knowledgeable food lovers and aesthetes alike, all in search of an accomplished culinary experience.

Agathe’s tip: it’s THE afterwork spot, with a view, live music and house cocktails from 6pm to 8pm starting on Thursdays!
