You know by now how much I love uncovering Monegasque gems. Well, this one is a real find, with a truly innovative concept. Watchmakers United is an address I’d describe more as a watchmaking art gallery than a watch shop. It opened its doors just a month ago at 36, boulevard des Moulins. I walked in out of curiosity. I walked out fascinated.

There I met its founder, Maximilien Roussel-Galle, originally from Morteau, one of the historic cradles of watchmaking. He spoke to me with passion about the region’s leading watchmaking school, the independent artisans working in the shadows, these bold micro-brands, and above all these talents that are so often unknown to the wider public.

His mission with Watchmakers United? To select the most exclusive treasures in watchmaking and support independent artisans. Watchmakers United is, in fact, the address 100% dedicated to independent watchmakers. Not a traditional shop. Not a simple distribution channel. But the place that shines a light on unique pieces, ultra-limited editions, and creations that go beyond the industry’s classic codes. You’ll find watchmaking creations in different styles and at every price point. Yes, there really is something for every budget, and it’s the place to be if you don’t want to wear the same watch as everyone else.

What I loved most was discovering the story behind a creation. Behind every model lies a man or a woman, their journey, their technique. It’s about craftsmanship, precision, innovation and passing things down. It’s a captivating world! You get to talk around a shared passion. In fact, every month, meetings with the artisan watchmakers allow enthusiasts, and amateurs too, to step behind the scenes of creation: on the programme, “watchmaking lunches” and “watchmaking meet-ups”. A bit like being part of a club…
