It is when I entered in the middle of bottles and old stones that I saw this painting of Ben, “life is too short to drink bad wine”. That’s exactly my philosophy! Lover of good wine, I had just stepped in the oldest winery in Monaco.

I am in the center of the Condamine in a unique place, 100 years old, full of history and renovated. I am at the Grands Chais Monegasques!

Their main activity is wholesale but they reorganised the place in 2014 in order to be more welcoming. The clientele can get advices from Stéphane Bellester and his two sommeliers-Emilio Stratico and Fabrice Pépino-. Wines lovers will find the bottle they are looking for. Oenological events and private tasting are also organised.

Every month (except in summer and in Christmas time), a tasting evening is organized. The next one is Thursday, March 22 and it’s a rum tasting. Notice to the amateurs! Reservation required due to the limited space!
Indeed, the decor itself is enchanting. Authentic. There are several spaces.
There are big barrels where wine from North Africa and Italy was stored at the beginning of the century, beautiful wall posters, exposed stones, wood, ironwork doors, leather seats , a beautiful bar and a spiral staircase leading us to the mezzanine where a real library of spirits is offered to us, with one of the most beautiful collections of whiskey and rums of the Cote d’Azur. We imagine already sitting in one of the comfortable Chesterfield enjoying a sublime nectar…

Without forgetting the cellars! There is for all the tastes: wines, champagnes and spirits with names that make you dream: Cheval Blanc, Petrus, Yquem…!
There is also a delicatessen side where exceptional products have been selected: basalmic vinegar, olive oil, jams, calissons, fois gras from the Gers, etc.

So you have many reasons to discover the place!
